Richards On Sharing The Hurt

Skipper Micah Richards has insisted that ‘everyone is hurting’ following another defeat but this time to Everton on Tuesday evening.

With it being Villa’s third successive loss now and with only ten games left to ‘save’ (save PMSL) our season, we now have easy fixtures against Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur to look forward to.

Speaking himself to the media after the game, Richards is quoted by the Official Site as saying it’s not just fans that are hurting at the moment.

Again – Richards is one of few who can claim that given his own reactions and effort put into game even though he has to accept his own form isn’t great…at least he is one of the tryers though when he doesn’t find himself benched.

‘It’s more tough games coming up – Man City and Spurs – it’s not getting any easier. But we will keep going. We are not giving up. We will keep believing. I know it’s hard for everyone associated with the club, especially the fans. I feel their pain because Aston Villa – in this situation – it’s hard to take. That goes for the players too obviously. It’s hurting us all. When people say that it doesn’t hurt us, as players, that hurts the most because we don’t want to go out and lose every week. It’s not good. All we can do is go out there and do our best.’

Speaking more specifically about the game, our game plan and how Everton sliced through us like everybody has done this year in reality – how we haven’t been hammered more times is beyond me.

‘They were smart. They let us have the ball at times and then hit us on the counter-attack. We capitulated in the last home game against Liverpool but against Everton we tried to fight as much as we could. But their quality in the end showed. They played on the counter attacks with Kevin Mirallas and Aaron Lennon, Ross Barkley in behind and Romelu Lukaku up front. They set up like that and capitalised on their chances well.’
