Aston Villa’s new head coach Dean Smith has been speaking about our game later this evening against the Happy Hoops – Queens Park Rangers.

Meeting with the media to discuss his third game in charge as we look to bounce back from Norwich City disappointment, the Birmingham Mail have him discussing our Under 23 lads as he was in attendance for their 5-2 defeat to Newcastle United.

The game was a disappointment given previous results so far this season, but Callum O’Hare helped himself to a brace, and Smith admitted he had stood out.

“It was a made game, there were four goals in ten minutes. Callum took the eye with his two goals and there are some good players there who just need to learn not to be too emotional when they lose a goal. I speak on a daily basis with Mark and Kevin and we have had a number of the youngsters training in and around the first-team so we can judge their abilities.”

Picking out young Callum is no surprise for anyone who follows the next level down at the club as he’s long been highly rated and has been seen on occasions in the first-team, but what really struck my eye was the line about not being ‘too emotional’ when conceding as I can more than see why that’s an issue within the club, even as far as the youngsters wanting to get their shot to impress.

It’s certainly a problem at first-team level!
