I have to lay it out the firstly I am a well aware this subject causes divide and controversy amongst the Villa faithful but hey-ho I’ll put it down and lay it out for you guys to debate.

Listening to the interviews Ireland has given its given me back the same buzz I had we he first arrived at the club; in this I believe for him O’Neill would have been the perfect manager to motivate him unlike Houllier who was not always in Irelands corner from the start as he never signed him in the first place. Anyway I believe McLeish is just the sort of manager who could put his arm around him and give him that confidence to turn on the pure class that oozes from his game that was evident for City.

He creates a perfect mould for Bent already a perfect player to play behind him and thread him a ball all day long.

Hoping and praying this is the player we will see as it would save us going out and buying another player when we have the perfect fit already in place, in all honesty as excited to see if he finds his form as any other new signing. I know this will cause a split which is no surprise I was one the people who thought we should get shot, but listening to him he may not have got his fair shot and let him have it now at least we know either way then that we had a real player on our hands.

Stephen Ireland has told www.avfc.co.uk that he will give his all to the Villa adding, ‘You have to start with a fresh new slate now. It didn’t go off with a bang like I wanted it to when I first signed here. I just want to be given the opportunity to play. Last year I felt in training I had done enough to get that chance to play but it didn’t happen for me for whatever reason. I want to play as often as I can and that is why you do pre-season – to stamp your name on the teamsheet as early as you can and then maintain it all season. There is a lot I want to give for the team and the cause and I am hoping I get a fair shot.’

Also on the team numbers, he has admitted he is giving up the Number 9 shirt for Darren Bent and he`ll take his favoured number 7 shirt.
