The People claim that Tottenham midfielder David Bentley could be Aston Villa’s first signing of the summer. The former Blackburn Rovers and Arsenal player was a target last summer but he decided to join Spurs. Now some fans won’t like that fact but he is a London lad, his girlfriend/wife (?) is a London lass and I believe he was a Spurs fan as a kid, so it wasn’t a major insult to us and my sources say he was very respectful towards Villa over their approach.
Be interesting to see how much the 24-year-old would cost this summer as he hasn’t fit in at White Hart Lane at all but cost them £15million. They aren’t known for throwing money away and usually do good business in the transfer windows.
