Aston Villa have tonight confirmed the long speculated arrival of Neil Taylor from Swansea City and also confirmed that Jordan Ayew heads in the opposite direction.

The swap deal had been a topic of discussion as the day drew on but it seemed it suddenly all went quiet.

Clearly it seems we were just waiting for another game that will soon be forgotten to finish before the announcements came.

The 27 year old Welsh international has signed a four and a half year deal at the club and he comes in for an undisclosed fee which is also part of a deal seeing Ayew depart in the opposite direction that also has an undisclosed fee.

Speaking to the Official Site he explained.

‘I loved my time at Swansea but I’m looking forward to this new challenge in my career. You only have to look at the facilities, the stadium and the fanbase to know that this is a huge club that deserves to be in the Premier League. I spoke to James Chester before the move and he had nothing but good things to say about the club so I’m looking forward to getting started.’

Taylor was involved in Wales semi final run at the European Championships over the summer and he scored his first goal for his country in their game against Russia in the group stage of the competition.

For Ayew he arrived in the summer of 2015 and leaves with ten goals to his name in 58 appearances.
