The Football Association have confirmed that no further action will be taken against John Terry or Chelsea for his infamous 26th minute substitution in their final game of last season.

For anybody who missed it, having worn the No 26 shirt at Stamford Bridge across his 19 year stay at the club, Terry left the field through a guard of honour in the 26th minute in the five one victory over Sunderland.

The FA initially announced their intention to investigate the matter as several punters won thousands of pounds for betting on the exact time of his substitution with odds at 100-1.

Having looked at it, the FA have now decided that there is no case to answer as there is no evidence to suggest that publication prior to the game of him being substituted in the 26th minute was inside information intended for the purposes of betting and therefore cannot be considered an attempt at spot fixing.

For Aston Villa and John Terry this is obviously good news as there is no worry over a potential suspension for example, and it leaves him free for a debut against Hull City.
