Is everybody happy? La la la la la la la. Sorry, you had to have watched A Fist Full Of Travellers Cheques to appreciate the song I think!

Juan Pablo Angel has said he is ‘very happy’ at Villa and once again has a smile back on his face. Must admit, if I was a footballer, I’d only have to look at my bank account balance to have a smile on my face.

Anyway, I’m not, he is, so I’ll shut up ……. 🙁

Angel said: ‘I am very happy. I know what I am capable of doing and last year wasn’t good enough – for me or anyone here. But now I have got a smile back on my face and am really looking forward to each and every day. I don’t want to talk about last season. It is in the past and I want to leave it there but I just wanted to get the enjoyment back.’

‘The team spirit and the togetherness is back. It is all about that enjoyment, looking forward to the next training session and looking forward to the next game and that is what happening here now. The mood has been terrific since Martin O’Neill took the job. He gave us the belief in ourselves and we have shown a lot of determination this year. We have got good results and the way we are playing is far better than last year.’

He also predicts ‘great times’ ahead as the belief is back in the team.

  • Juan Pablo Angel, theres only Juan Pablo Angel, glad he is happy and likewise Mr Fear I would be too, my only hope is that this happiness transfers to the pitch and his performances, and before people start jumping on me, I have always been a fan of Angel

  • I remember meeting him in sutton coldfield once i was half cut, he was’nt in the team at the time and i remember shaking his hand and slurring your great mate he looked a bit paranoid for a second but then gave me a grin and shaked my dads hand as well ni

  • I’ve got a lot of time for JPA too. Think he’s playing well again, after getting a raw deal under O’Leary last season. A few more premiership goals from him though would be very welcome. He’s getting the opportunities, just not finishing to the standard w

  • Still only 1 goal from open play in the prem this season is dreadful from our main striker! Sorry JPA but you just aint good enough anymore. I wouldnt be smiling if I’d only scored 1 goal from open play this season.

  • i dont doubt his passion or his love for the club. but you’ve got to ask that if/when a new striker comes in jan (defoe being rumoured again for 7m on the beeb website yesterday) will he raise his game and challenge to keep his place? we really haven’t ye

  • JPA is a thoroughly decent bloke by all acoounts. He has always got time for the fans and he is one of the players who goes out of his way to help with good causes. However I agree with the sentiments about his goal scoring. He needs to start hitting the

  • I’d be very happy too on the kind of money he makes. Time to shut up and start doing your job Pablo (I’ve been saying that for 2 years now!)

  • i totally agree with you VOTH on defoe, when the rumours were on here i didnt agree, he’s not good enough for spurs, he’s not good enough for us.

  • bobbyfett …. you are so right. We have a reasonable but not world beating squad. Now is the time for quality. Lets not look at other clubs underperforming cast offs.

  • I do not want to split hairs deanovilla because JPA’s goal return needs to improve signifcantly. But hasn’t he scored 2 goals from open play, not just the 1? Newcastle and Blackburn?

  • I think he’d score more if we got the amount of crosses wigan were putting in our box last Sunday but i’m not against giving Baros a few games, when he’s firing he tends to make goals for himself with his speed and and movement.

  • We desperately need a couple of new strikers come January, so JPA needs to up his goal scoring tally to ensure he keeps his place in the starting line up.
