The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.

Now it all makes sense. I did an article yesterday called Shoddy Deal – Strange Timing about the rushed announcement yesterday that Villa have pulled off a great deal (sic) to keep Hummel as our kit supplier. So after the club gave us the ‘sugar’ today they give us the bad news.

Yup, Interim results time for the six months ended 30 November 2005 and suffice to say, they don’t make great reading. Fair enough, we aren’t in debt, but ….

Turnover is DOWN to £17.7m from £19million in 2004
The operating loss is UP to £9.4million from £8.8million in 2004

Villa have a net cash from operating activities of £2.0m which is DOWN from 2004’s £4.2million.

Attendances are down to an average of 33 221 per match with more meaning more than 2000 fans are staying away from 2004’s 35 332. Surely a clear sign that although O’Leary and the board talk a good game, they don’t get us many good games on the field of play? Sorry, I realise all at Villa think the fans and shareholders should just shut up and enjoy whatever **** is served up for us, but I’m just not able to do that!

Herbert Douglas Ellis said in this his statement to shareholders:

‘The last six months have seen mixed results on the field but recent performance is encouraging. The Company remains in a strong financial position and there have been significant developments on a number of commercial fronts. We are looking forward to further progress at the Club both on and off the field.
We will also continue to explore a prudent and positive outcome for the Club from the current corporate activity which is of major significance for all shareholders and supporters.

In the meantime, I would like to thank all involved with the Club for their continuing support.’

WHAT? Not one mention of tennis? I’m gutted.
