The Birmingham Mail have linked Tommy Elphick with a move to Birmingham City. The 29-year-old is apparently willing to leave Aston Villa in order to get some regular football.

The Stoke Sentinal quote Mark Hughes as saying Aston Villa haven`t returned following a £500 000 bid for Glenn Whelan. He says of the situation for the 30 year old midfielder: ‘I’m not sure where we’re up to with Glenn. Aston Villa made an initial bid which was rejected out of hand. It’s a little bit of a similar situation to Jon Walters really in that at this stage of Glenn’s career he’s probably looking for a little more security. That maybe being offered at Aston Villa.” Adding, ‘I don’t think they’ve been back since with an increased offer, it’s gone a little bit quiet I think.’
£500 000 was enough, Villa are right not to increase this bid in my humble.

Main thing that goes against us is if Barry does want to break Ryan Giggs all time Premier league appearance record. Giggs retired on 632 and Barry is on 628

Fingers crossed the goalkeeper situation is sorted out this week, the rumours have gone a little quiet since the last update:
No matter who our incomings and outgoings are this summer, we should still be in a reasonable position to make a better fist of our promotion push this time around. Under Steve Bruce we’re favourites to return to the top flight. A few big name signings would help that significantly.
