Aston Villa youngster Niall Mason has extended his loan spell out with Doncaster Rovers this season. The 19 year old made the move to the Keepmoat Stadium back in the August transfer window on a half season loan that was set to expire in early January. Read more: Doncaster Extension For Mason




Manager Steve Bruce used his programme notes for the game against Leeds United to deliver his message of hope for 2017. With a turn in form – although nobody pretends performances are there yet – Villa go into 2017 sitting in tenth place in the Championship table and although we are 17 points behind Newcastle United in top spot at this minute in time, we are only six points off the last Play Off spot currently occupied by Sheffield Wednesday. The first game for Aston Villa of 2017 and well, it was all a bit 2016ish wasn’t it. A one nil loss at the Cardiff City Stadium and a performance that left Steve Bruce, like many, shaking their heads.

Speaking to the Official Site in his post game press conference Bruce certainly wasn’t going to use the fixture list at this time of year as an excuse as these players should be better and such a poor first half showing we’ve seen plenty of times before, so tiredness is not an excuse.
