Manager Steve Bruce used his programme notes for the game against Leeds United to deliver his message of hope for 2017. With a turn in form – although nobody pretends performances are there yet – Villa go into 2017 sitting in tenth place in the Championship table and although we are 17 points behind Newcastle United in top spot at this minute in time, we are only six points off the last Play Off spot currently occupied by Sheffield Wednesday. Thought for the day: I was explaining to my wife last night that when you die you get reincarnated but must come back as a different creature. She said she would like to come back as a cow. I said ‘You’re obviously not listening.’
