Unoial Villa News…

Martin O’Neill isn’t sure if Milan Baros will want to stay at Villa: ‘I wouldn’t be sure if he wanted to stay. If a striker is not scoring goals then he is going to ask himself some questions. He is still trying to find the form that earned him a move to Liverpool and won him the golden boot. He scored against Sheffield United and like everyone else goals give boosts of confidence.’ Full article: A quality striker to be thrown away?

Skysports have furthered the rumour that Manchester United right-back Phil Bardsley could be joining Villa on loan. A source (well? everyone else says it!) close to Man Utd told me this afternoon: ‘Bardo is a fans’ favourite, people around here love him. He gives 100% and more besides, is extremely fit and doesn’t mind getting forward. He’s very much a young Gary Neville and already has a hardcore following here, not least because he’s from Salford and is hard as nails. Funny, cheeky lad who’ll give his all to make it at the very top.’ (Note to self, he is from Salford, keep your big trap shut) Full article: Bardo A Man Utd Fans Favourite

Jlloyd Samuel says he has spoken with Martin O’Neill and is now ‘very positive’ about his future…. Jlloyd Samuel – Cliché Warning!

Martin O’Neill says that Gareth Barry would fit into any team in the Premiership including the top four. Gareth Barry – One of Villa’s greats?

Martin O’Neill says that Randy Lerner is bursting to bring some players in as he experiences his first transfer window. The Villa boss enthused: ‘Randy is enthusiastic and wants to get going – but it might be all wild goose chases and we end up with nothing. He’s keen to sort things out but he’s not here specifically because it’s the transfer window. I wouldn’t read anything into it – it’s only because the Cleveland Browns’ season is over and I think he had a number of issues to address there.’ Randy as keen as mustard

The Guardian are claiming that Milan Baros could move to Spanish side Real Sociedad for around £4million. I’m sure they were linked last season as well? Shame to sell this player on at a loss, but hey ho if you read the Daily Mail the price quoted is £6million and that sounds more reasonable.

Sky Sports also said yesterday that Villa are moving for Romanian Nicolae Dica. The 26-year-old forward plays for Steaua Bucharest.

This one I also don’t believe unless we really are looking for short term fixes as the Daily Mail say we will bid for Charlton’s Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. As said, a short term fix maybe, the former Chelsea and Middlesbrough striker was awesome in his hey day, but this is not the stage of a career we should be looking at buying players in surely!?

Martin O’Neill said about Lee Hendrie: ‘Obviously I think Stoke would want him to come back but I want to speak to Lee. Last week he was in getting treatment and I spoke to him for a moment or two. But I’d rather have a more lengthy conversation. He is match fit and I’m sure that Lee’s heart is at Aston Villa. If he thought that there was an opportunity to try and get back in the side then I’m sure he would to try and have a go.’ Full article: Click Here

The official site have announced that academy starlet (what is a starlet, is it a star that is available to rent?) Hungarian Under 19 international Zoltan Stieber has signed his first professional Villa contract keeping him at Villa until 2009.
