Unoial Villa News…

astvil123: This Thursday Aston Villa FC will announce Gerard Houllier as the new manager of the club. It also looks as though Phil Thompson is leaving Gillete Soccer Saturday and Jeff and the boys to move to Villa Park as Gerard’s No.2 just like he was at Anfield under Houllier. But the most annoying thing is that before Houllier has even signed his contract, our ‘fans’ are moaning already! Full article: Villa ‘Fans’ – Change Your Attitude!!

Well, Rafa Benitez knows a good player when he see’s one it seems. According to the Daily Mail, Inter Milan have been linked with a shock move for Aston Villa prodigy Gary Gardner – the 18-year-old brother of Birmingham midfielder Craig. No chance, he’s said to be the real deal… we can’t let him go! Full details: www.dailymail.co.uk/sport

I think now it is clear this is happening, the tide is turning for the new manager… or will turn, because us Villans are a supportive lot when it comes down to it. Full article: Why Gerard Houllier Can Be Great For Villa

Our very own celebrity pundit! Jonny Gould: Check Jonny Gould’s Soccermongery and join him in talkSPORT’s sports bar this Saturday and Sunday from 9pm. It’s not the appointment I particularly wanted but GĂ©rard Houllier becomes the first Aston Villa manager hired by Randy Lerner. Our American owner wanted a man with both Premier League experience and an international profile. Houllier ticks both of those boxes – but then again so do many other inappropriate figures in the game. He looks like Inspector Clouseau too. To make matters more difficult, he’ll be joined by Liverpool firebrand, Phil Thompson. A one club man through and through, Thommo will frankly look out of place at Villa Park. Fieldy: Sid Hails UnCowansly Performance. See what I did there, uncowardly/uncowansly yeah I need more sleep! Sid Cowans was absolutely thrilled with the performance of the second string yesterday as they battered Blackpool 4-0. Full quotes: Sid Hails UnCowansly Performance

OK, the press are determined to drive a wedge between the Club/Fans and Ashley Young and are already saying that Spurs will return and try to buy him in January. Well, he isn’t for sale…! The same sort of deal is being referred to ie around £22million to include Robbie Keane and yes, you know before I even finish the sentence don’t you? Jermaine Jenas. Right… well…. Press Are Wrong – Ashley Young Will NOT Be Off

And as confirmed by Sir Reza of SA: ‘J, yes you’re right…I had a lengthy discussion with Ash last week when I was in the UK. The guys loves Villa. He convinced me of that when i told him the fans concern regarding a move away from Villa. His immediate response and the way he shrugged off the suggestion was noble. I love the guy…..what a gent.’

Dan Harrison: Ashley Young hopes to play a part for England tonight as Fabio Capello’s team look to achieve back-to-back wins in Euro 2012 qualification Group G with a win over Switzerland. The Villa attacker replaced hat-trick hero Jermain Defoe late on in Friday night’s 4-0 win over Bulgaria, as the Three Lions made a dream start to qualifying. Full article: Click Here

Fieldy: Stevie Sidwell made his return to action in yesterday’s 4-0 reserve clash against Blackpool and boy is he glad to be back. Sidders was speaking on the Official Site following his completion of 90 minutes in yesterday’s thumping win and hopefully brings an end to the achilles issue he’s had since the Valencia friendly. Commenting on the run out itself, he said: ‘It was tiring, first and foremost! But it was nice to be out there. This was the first one back and I’ll just knuckle down in training now and see where it goes.’ Full article: Sidwell Glad To Be Back

CustardCream: I’ll hold my hands up – after O`Neill flounced out of Villa Park five days before the season began I expected us to have a number of points less that the six we currently have. Pre-season had already been poor, we`d lost our best player, again, it was becoming more and more obvious that there was no money to spend on improving the squad, and our friendly results had hardly been encouraging. he’sbiggerthanmeandyou: Three months ago we signed a 16 year old Irish striker by the name of Michael Drennan, well we’ve signed many young talents in the past so business as usual right? well maybe not, Drennen played a few games for the Villa u16’s and scored a few goals, that was a few months ago, but recently he seems to have enjoyed a rapid rise through the ranks having scored a brace for the u18’s at the weekend …. Thought for the day: Many years ago in England , pub frequenters had a whistle baked into the rim, or handle, of their ceramic cups. When they needed a refill, they used the whistle to get some service. ‘Wet your whistle’ is the phrase inspired by this practice.
