Man of the match v Arsenal: Click Here

Having had a successful loan spell with Notts County earlier in the season, and all parties willing to extend it other than Villa it seemed, Jack may be on his way back. As things played out, Villa had a number of enquiries for the young talent, so brought him back to the club instead of just automatically extending his spell, so they could talk properly in person about those offers from the Championship for him. Nicklas Helenius’ agent has said that Aston Villa still believe in his client, but may be open to loaning him out so he can get more games and experience in this country. See: Helenius Set for Loan Spell?

Aston Villa crashed out of the FA Youth Cup in the fourth round match tonight to Liverpool, and unfortunately you can’t really begrudge the Scousers victory. See: FA Youth Cup – Liverpool 3 v Villa 1

Holt! Geddit, geddit Halt! I’m good, so good in fact…I forget where I was? Manager Paul Lambert has again repeated the fact that the signing of Grant Holt was a no brainer as far as he was concerned. In all honesty, it’s a bit of a re-hash with Lambert saying pretty much the same as he already has done in the press since we signed the extremely well named player. It does however allow me to mis-read the intentions behind the phrase ‘no brainer’ again though. See: Holt! – Lambert In No Brainer Shock

No surprise here really, Lawro got his fingers burned last week predicting a draw v Arsenal. This week he has told www.bbc.co.uk/sport that he thinks Liverpool will beat Villa 2-0 at Anfield. See: Mystic v Lawro… Doom! Liverpool v Villa

Well 532 seems to be out of the question with news that isn’t exactly surprising, Nathan Baker has been ruled out of the game against Liverpool following the concussion he sustained in our previous match. See: Pre Liverpool Injury News For Villa

Looks like Fieldy is staging a coup here…… News today is like an canteen with only used wrappers left, so I’m going to do a little round up, why, well I’m bored. Only a few things to wrap up really and it’s all a bit Holty or a bit Liverpooly, which you’d expect I guess. First up, and following his first training session with the team, Brad Guzan as our staring playmaker this term, was called upon to give his impressions of our new No 29. Plastic Villan asks: Has Lambert lost his bottle? I’ve been critical of a lot of things Lambert but I have stopped short of calling for his head because I’ve been unsure if someone else could do a better job. I’ve been searching around for some reason why we have been playing such dire football this season after some quite exciting performances last season. Lambert said he wants us to play the right way. Maybe he set us up very defensively for the tough start to the season and the players just haven’t clicked back into keeping the ball down and actually trying to pass it. It hasn’t been making any sense to me. See: Has Lambert Lost His Bottle?

Villa are again doing another Premiership club a favour, this time Chelsea – but for Lambert it’s that word we don’t need again – experience. The 24 year old left back joins us on loan until the end of the current season, and Jose Mourinho is delighted he’ll be able to get some good game time under his belt to aide his development given he can’t give him that at the moment. Well, few of us are confident ahead of our trip to Anfield this week, so what are the thoughts of our colleagues on Vital Liverpool. With thanks to Gavin. See: An Interview With A Liverpool Fan
