I have to say, I`m struggling with the recent quotes from Steve Bruce. In an interview with Gregg Evans at The Birmingham Mail he admits the players must do better. Ok, that`s kinda an obvious part so I agree there! But then he goes on to imply, as he did last season at points, that some of the players go into hiding because of the size of Aston Villa. The Football League have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of the game between Aston Villa and Norwich City this Saturday. The Premier League and the EFL will both be seeking thoughts from member clubs on whether or not to close the summer transfer window before the season kicks off in coming years. The current window, like many other major European leagues, closes on August 31 which is a full three weeks into the start of the Premier League campaign, and almost a full month into the campaign for sides in the EFL. Stan Collymore has been tweeting and it`s very difficult to argue with what he`s saying after the last two abject performances by Aston Villa. Worrying times indeed. Honestly thought with a pre-season Steve Bruce might do the business for us, he does have form getting teams promoted, but something isn`t right… we`ve gone backwards and he`s admitted he can`t arrest the away form.
