Fieldy: Paul Lambert has said Alan Hutton understands his omission from the Stateside squad after playing at Burton. Speaking to the Birmingham Mail Lambert said: ‘This is just the squad I’ve decided to go with. I spoke to Alan the other week and he played fine on Saturday, so no worries whatsoever. To be fair he was ok with that, he worked hard in the game so there’s no adverse feeling there.’ Doesn’t take a genius to think that Hutton won’t be with us for much longer does it.

Yes, I know, my work for this site is tireless but I`m not and those who have met me know I need as much beauty sleep as I can get. I have to admit, pre-season friendlies interest me very little, as Paul Lambert said recently, it is all about the fitness, not the results. Anyway, Villa won 1-0 against the Union with a goal from Nathan Delfouneso. Wouldn`t it be great if he can progress this season?! Full report: Delfouneso Secures 1-0 Win In USA Pre-Season
