I’ve been looking for some news to make up a Villa Times, but there really isn’t a great deal about, only the quotes from the manager, articles on Ellis and quotes from mouth malone (me!).

The highlight of the Villa week for me was the interview with Dennis Mortimer, the rest has just been the same re-hashed quotes and negative comments, but lets have a look and see what we can come up with!

Neil Heitzman of the Villa Trust and me are quoted in the Birmingham Mail pouring doubt on the Comer Takeover. Doug, or ‘an insider’ at the club have also done the same. In my nice quiet and un-opinionated way I’ve said they should ‘put up or shut up’ and to be honest, I stand by that. The takeover saga has been going longer than the Archers and I think we are all bored? Full article: Click Here

Seems the fans have turned on O’Leary, not sure there is anyway back for the manager now, he has helped drive the fans away this season and his quotes against the fans have certainly not gone down well. We did a poll asking if he would survive until Easter (following a Times article saying he had been given until then to steady the ship) Only 16% said they hope O’Leary will survive, 43% said they hoped he wouldn’t, 25% said he would go at the end of the season and a further 16% said he should leave immediately. Villa have just 34 points from 30 games, the lowest hall ever. So at least O’Leary has managed to break one record at Villa.

O’Leary meanwhile has said that he won’t walk out on the club. Well of course he won’t, he is on top pay and if he is sacked, he’ll get a great pay off. Full article: Click Here

Some bizarre comments in one report quoting the manager as saying he has already drawn up his list of possible transfer targets. Lets not even go there, how long until we get the Ellis quote of £20million available only for just £2million to be spent?!

Looks like Villa will lose the services of on-loan winger James Milner as Newcastle have said they want him back for next year and aren’t interested in selling him.

Jumper Jumper, De La Cruz and Delaney could also be departing and Lee Hendrie has again hinted that if he can’t play regular first team football, he will also want to move on in the summer.

Villa reserves drew 1-1 against Liverpool this week.

Roy Aitkin says that he understands why the fans are upset but ‘by God, we are the same. Please don’t underestimate how much it means to us. If things are not going well, we feel it too.’ Adding: ‘The big difference is that we are the ones who can do something about it and, starting on Saturday when we play at home to Fulham, it will be so important to have a solid fan base, who you know are right behind you.’ The fans are right behind the team, I don’t think they are right behind the manager, apart from the people who are literally right behind them naturally, eh Adam!?

Aitkin also says ‘I have read about us having a demoralised dressing room. But that is a ridiculous comment.’ Hmmm, not what I’ve heard, but hey, is the assistant manager really going to come out and say the manager has lost the dressing room!? It is all the more worrying if the team are fully behind O’Leary and Aitkin, because then there would be no excuse for some of the performances this year?

Thought for the day: My wife and I divorced over religious differences. She thought he was Gods gift and I didn’t.
