The Sun (via the Birmingham Mail) are reporting that we are interested in signing Wigan centre-back Dan Burn.
With the departure of John Terry and the doubts over the future of James Chester, we are said to be looking to strengthen our options in defence.
Fans on Twitter are not particularly keen on signing the 6ft 7 defender:
My word. The worst centre back in England. I’ve watched him many times and have openly laughed at his lack of ability. Shocking.

Bruce is slowly turning Villa into BCFC.

Good player imo. Smart move, particularly if we cash in on Chester.

Wouldn’t trust that rag of a paper anyway but Burn does only have one year left on his contract so not completely out of the question, hope nothing happens tho

Verdict:
I understand the argument that we should try and rely on our youngsters especially if we are having to recruit players who are not really proven in the Championship.
However, at 26 years of age, Burn has played over 100 games in the Championship. On top of that, the Latics conceded just 29 times in League One last season, with the defender contributing five goals at the other end too.
Saying all that though, he was relegated with Wigan the last time he played in the second tier and was part of a Fulham side that conceded 79 in the 15/16 campaign.
