Kevin MacDonald’s Under 23 side continued their Premier League 2 season on Friday evening but fell to a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United.
Travelling up to Leigh Sports Village for the game, an Isaiah Bazerley-Graham own goal gave them the initial advantage but we quickly hit back to return to level terms as Kelsey Mooney scored only a minute later.

Villa were unable to capitalise further though and in the second half United added two more goals to their tally to wrap up the game.
On the positive side of life, Callum O’Hare returned to the pitch for the first time following injury issues of his own going back to last May, and although he missed out on pre-season, he got a solid 45 minutes under his belt which will bring him on nicely and for Mooney, it was a third goal inside of a week for the 19-year-old so he continues to impress as he looks to properly establish himself at this level and then maybe get a taste of more before the season ends.
Wow itโs feels so good to play football

On the downside, we lost Harry McKirdy to injury as he was stretchered off ahead of the halftime break so its fingers crossed there.
FT: #MUFC U23s 3-1 #AVFC U23s…
It's a first defeat of the season for our Young Lions. @KelseyMooney99 was on target for an equaliser in the first half, but @ManUtd net twice in the second to secure victory. @CalOhare's comeback the big positive tonight.#PartOfThePride pic.twitter.com/Cy4xYVUIaw
