Aston Villa’s Under 23 side kicked off their Premier League 2 campaign of 2018/19 with a home tie against Norwich City.
FT: #AVFC U23s 2-0 #NCFC U23s…
It's a winning start to the #PL2 campaign for our Young Lions. @KelseyMooney99's brace either side of half-time clinches our first three points of the season. ๐#PartOfThePride pic.twitter.com/cRT1c8u1S6

Welcoming the Canaries to Walsall’s Banks’s Stadium for the match, we got our season up and running at 7pm and on the one hand, hopes ahead of the year are high having reached the Play-Off Final in 2017/18 and lifted the Premier League Cup trophy, but Kevin MacDonald and Mark Delaney are once again leading a fairly new group of players given the promotions we’ve seen of youngsters through to the first team setup.
There were some familiar names in the starting lineup but it’s difficult not to think ahead to tomorrow’s Yeovil clash given the names that are missing.
Kelsey Mooney got our opening goal of the year on the 36-minute mark and we went into the break with the advantage. With 20 minutes remaining in the tie, he completed his brace to secure a 2-0 victory.
Three points and a win – can’t ask for more than that.
