I might get chance to make a coffee in a minute, it’s been claimed within the last half an hour that Aston Villa are closing in on the capture of former French Under 21 international Frederic Guilbert.

I must admit the name seems familiar from the rumour mill, but I can’t say I know much about him.

The claim has come from the BBC’s deadline day ticker and they write that we have agreed a transfer fee of £4.4million with French club Caen for his services.

The twist comes in the fact that they believe once the ink on the deal is dry, we will immediately loan him back to Caen for the remainder of the 2018/19 campaign which seems strange given our defensive issues.

According to Whoscored he’s predominantly right-sided but the 24-year-old can also operate in the heart of defence as well as on the right hand side of midfield and he has made 24 appearances for his club so far this year, returning two assists.

We shall see what the next few hours bring, but I guess that implies some right sided departures in the summer at least.
