Aston Villa have confirmed this afternoon that highly rated young attacker Corey Blackett-Taylor will spend the remainder of the 2018/19 season out on loan with League One side Walsall.

Head coach Dean Smith knows the Walsall setup pretty well I would imagine and he clearly feels the 21-year-old is capable of getting good game time to bring his development on further for us with a view to the future.

The Academy graduate has made two senior appearances for the side, making a substitute appearance in last season’s clash with Middlesbrough at Villa Park in the EFL Cup, and the season before, debuting against Huddersfield in the Championship.

Walsall will be his first spell away from us so it’ll be a massive learning curve that he should look to take everything he can from.

It’ll be interesting to see how he gets on, but finally we are getting a good raft of lads out for real games and real tests rather than seeing them effectively languish in the Under 23 setup and never quite reach their early potential.
