Villa Secure “Matching Option” On Potential Loan Capture

|

With speculation yesterday suggesting that Aston Villa were in pole position when it came to the chase for Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings, reports now claim a deal is imminent.

Avoiding all Flash Gordon references here, the 25-year-old has been linked with a number of Championship level clubs this week, but head coach Dean Smith appears likely to add him to our ranks on a loan deal until the end of the current 2018/19 campaign.

With loans being a mixed bag at B6, Sky Sports have reported this morning that although we haven’t been able to organise a loan to buy deal with the Cherries, we have secured a ‘matching option’ in the arrangement, allowing us the opportunity to match any future offer that Bournemouth may receive for the player come next summer.

Not ideal if he finds his form and gets a good run of games under his belt, but certainly better than having no option at all and simply training him up for their benefit.

Sky claim a medical has now been completed and once the finer points of the contract are inked, he’ll be announced.
