Well for all the reports linking our manager to other jobs and for all the rumours that Martin O’Neill is off in the summer, his quotes in The Daily Mail seem to suggest otherwise.

Following the loss yesterday which puts us out of contention for the coveted 4th spot, MON said you have to have the ‘desire to come back again, that is the great thing about sport’.

Adding, ‘So we have to try and go again. Obviously, we will have to get stronger which is easier said than done, but that is what we need.’

And on the summer he says: ‘The chairman is coming over for the last game. I will sit down with him and discuss all aspects. But in the last conversation I had with him, he was immensely proud of the team.’

He does however suggest that the managers job is a killer one and warns players to forget about it if they can!!! ‘If they have good careers and don’t need to be managers, then they shouldn’t do it!’

So there you go, one more game and we are done for the season. Be interesting to see what Randy Lerner and MON decide, from those quotes it looks like MON is wanting to stay around, so the next question will be transfer targets and what budget the club can sensibly afford to try again next season. We all know a playmaker and most importantly a strike or two are desperately needed, but where from and how much? So glad I don’t have to answer either question! All I have to do is renew my season ticket (job done) and type opinions. Easy! lol
