Villa Can Go All The Way

We asked before the FA Cup 3rd round game v Hull how far Villa would go in the FA Cup. Before the 1-0 victory at the KC stadium 41% said not passed the 3rd round! Obviously that soon changed.

The final results were a mixed bag with the semi finals being the most unpopular choice with just 4%. 27% said the final. I’m not sure if that is blind faith and optimism or whether they know something I don’t? With the big teams with big squads gunning for the trophy, it would take a huge effort for Villa – especially in their current form, to get to Cardiff (or will Wembley be ready?) surely?

21% said the fourth round. We now know Villa face Port Vale at home, so with a decent performance, we might expect a victory, although the team – who are stretched because of injuries and the lack of new arrivals – will have to play a whole lot better than they did in the weekends 2-1 loss to West Ham. Lets not forget (as if we could!) we have already faced one cup exit this season to Cola League One (or whatever they are calling that league this week) opponents with Doncaster Rovers ripping us apart in the League Cup.

22% predicted the 5th round. 12% the quarter finals and as I say, 27% saying we can go all the way.

Anything is possible I guess, as the great Jimmy Greaves once said: ‘It’s a funny old game’!
