With Aston Villa securing their Premier League return following Monday’s Championship Play-Off Final victory over Derby County at Wembley Stadium, it didn’t take the summer transfer rumour mill long to suggest where we will spend our new found millions and Liverpool’s Ryan Kent has been claimed to be on head coach Dean Smith’s target list.
With our top flight return now secured, Football Insider have claimed that Villa are in pole position for the 22-year-old who largely impressed during a loan spell with Scottish side Rangers this year.
The versatile attacking midfield is capable of operating on either flank and in 43 appearances (including a few Europa League outings for Steven Gerrard’s side) he chipped in with six goals and nine assists.
Liverpool are said to value him at around £12million and Jurgen Klopp is said to be open to doing a deal, but Rangers, Huddersfield Town and Fulham are also said to have an interest.
I’m not so sure myself, from what I can tell it hasn’t been plain sailing at Rangers and I think for that fee, there are better deals out there when it comes to wingers with potential.
