As Thursday evening drew in, Aston Villa finally confirmed the news that fans had been expecting across the afternoon – centre half Kortney Hause had penned a new long term extension with us, up to 2025.

The 26-year-old initially joined us in January 2019 from Wolverhampton Wanderers, before then making the deal permanent that summer. Whilst Hause’s game time has been limited, he has still notched up 48 starts, and six substitute showings and he’s played a massive part in our rise back to the Premier League, and helped us to the position we are now in – looking to kick on further.

With some speculation earlier this season that Hause might be looking to move on, it certainly doesn’t sound like it when you listened to him speak about his new deal.

“I’m over the moon. It’s a big club, a big part of my life, big part of my football career. Since the day I signed, I’ve felt a real love for the club in terms of showing how much they wanted to bring me to the club. So from the first day I signed, I’ve felt loved and wanted and to extend for another three-and-a-half years. I’m very, very happy, I’m delighted.”

He’s not the only one judging by the reactions on social media.

It’s turning into a very good January for Villa, and with just over a week to go, let’s hope we haven’t finished yet and we can really end 2021/22 on a high.
