1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

Since 1958 when I was 8 years old and my granddad said to my father “Its about time I took the lad down the Villa”. Totally hooked since.

2) Paul Lambert? Your opinion please?

An excellent choice. He will sort out the under achievers. He may sign some little known players but they will be hungry. There will be no more games “we cannot win”.

3) Best and worst moments of last season?

Worst: Confirmation that we had hired Alex McLeish.
Best: Confirmation that we had sacked Alex McLeish.

4) Your opinion of Randy Lerner and the board, can a decent season next season make up for last season?

Will back Randy. He has put money in, he made one terrible mistake but hopefully has listened and corrected it. I hope plenty of time is given to Lambert to rebuild the club. Hats off to Randy and PF for getting him (after all Lambert did watch the abject performance at Carrow Road and still took the job). I feel optimistic again.

5) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer?

People who are hungry and want to play for the club. This should include at least three defenders who can defend. Someone to (sadly) replace Stan. A tricky winger and a direct winger to feed aggressive forwards.

6) Which player/s should Villa get rid of this summer?

Those who do not appear to care or are at best incompetent. I think “The Last Chance Saloon” currently has little room at the bar.

7) Favourite current player?

After last season, almost impossible to answer. I hope that Lambert can get Gabby playing well again though.

8) Favourite all time player/s?

Across 50 odd years……..Nigel Sims, Tony Hateley, Charlie Aitken, Andy Lochead, Sir Dennis, Sid, Paul Merson, Dwight.

9) What do you expect us to do/finish this season assuming a decent transfer window with £25m or so spent?
Premier: Top Half, with a good style of football.

FA Cup: Depends on the draw but hopefully not field a reserve side.

Carling: Have a real go at this.

10) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?

Did being at Rotterdam in 1982 make up for all the other years of grief supporting the Villa?
Answer: You bet!

11) Just to change the theme slightly, a snap shot of you outside of football, answer or ignore at your leisure:
(based on our WHO ARE YOU thread!!!)

a) Which celebrity/s would you most like to meet and why? Bruce Springsteen or The Coen Brothers, because liberal-minded Americans are rare and we should let them know they have fans here.

b) Age A young feeling 62 (though I`d probably have aged more slowly if I wasn`t a Villa fan).

c) Location: Born and raised in Acocks Green. I currently live in Norwich and am the Chair and sole member of The Rose Tavern Villa Supporters Club. It has been a difficult week in which I have tried and failed to lose my Brummie accent.

d) Favourite alcoholic drink: Guinness.

e) Favourite non-alcoholic drink: Water (despite what WC Fields says about it).

f) Favourite Film/s: Lawrence of Arabia, Vertigo, Chinatown

g) Favourite TV Show/s: Mad Men

h) Music?: Given my age, classic sixties plus The Boss, Tom Petty, Joni Mitchell.

i) Best ever moment in your life: Both of my wedding days and that night in Rotterdam.

j) Ambitions: I’d like to see Villa in Europe again and become renowned for playing entertaining football (oh, and not need a third marriage).

k) Wise words: As Woody Allen said ‘I’d like to achieve immortality by not dying’.
