1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

From birth. Third generation. My father and grandfather ate and slept the Villa

2) What is your favourite Villa moment of all time/most treasured memory?

So many. From being at Wembley in ’57 when I was only nine. Being in Rotterdam. See us beat Charlton 11-1 etc etc
However, I used to go to plenty of reserve matches back then when dad and I weren’t at away games and I started watching a young Brian Little. I was mesmerised by his grace on the ball. I just knew I was watching a great talent, another George Best. I Can still see him coming on as a sub on his first team debut. For me an emotional moment. Some of his goals and skills. Then his England debut. He made the enormous mistake of showing flair, which of course Revi didn’t like so he was never played again. Then the injury blow. Sad

3) If you could bring back a former Villa player into this team (at his peak) who would it be and why?

Suppose I’ve already said it. Brian Little

4) Steve Bruce? Your opinion please?

It’s horses for courses. He’s ideal for the immediate job ahead. Knows how to get a team promotion and then solidify in the premiership. If then we move on to want a stab at top six then I think we will have to look elsewhere

5) Best and worst moments of last season?

Don’t really think there were either. It was a nothing season. Reminded me of our first season in the old third when we languished in mid table.

If pressed on the worst though, dully accepting in January that we weren’t going up

6) Your opinion of Doctor Tony Xia and our CEO Keith Wyness?

Like them both. Tony is young and seems to succeed at everything he does and will come up with whatever it takes to at least have a stab at taking us to the pinnacle. Am I naive in thinking there is Chinese government money behind him too?

Keith? A steady hand with experience of this type of job. Seems a good negotiator and and the people throughout the club again seem the like him

7) What do you think we need most in the transfer window?

The usual. Goalkeeper, attacking midfield, another striker

8) Which player/s should Villa get rid of this summer?

All the deadwood which there are plenty. And teach the rest what to do when their electric gates don’t work so they can get to training 😉

9) Favourite and least favourite current player? (Explanation if you wish)

Jonathan Kodjia

10) Who was your first footballing hero and who are your favourite all time player/s?

Dixon. Hitchens. Gidman. Mortimer……….. how long have you got??!!?

11) What do you expect us to do/finish this season coming?

Winning the league by a mile so we can start planning for the premiership as early as possible

12) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?

If there is a god. Why does he put us through so much pain?

Just to change the theme slightly, a snap shot of you outside of football, answer or ignore at your leisure:

a) Which celebrity/s would you most like to meet and why?
Living here you meet and know many. So. The Fear! We corresponded for years, well before he created this but have never met. Read his book and realise what he has done against all odds. Quite admire the bloke. Hope it’s not too soporific
b) Age 69 never thought I’d reach my favourite number 😉
c) Location: South of France
d) Favourite alcoholic drink: The local rose’. The best in the world!!
e) Favourite non-alcoholic drink: Sparkling water
f) Favourite Film/s: To many to say
g) Favourite TV Show/s: Mash
h) Music?: Anything from Beethoven to Led Zep
i) Best ever moment in your life: Moving here
j) Ambitions: None left really
k) Wise words: A glass of rose’ please

  • Great to hear the name of Hitchens amongst the favorite players. Villa have had some outstanding centre forwards over the years and Gerry Hitchens was right up there at the top of the list. He had everything. Shame that he left for Italy and sad that he p
