1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?
Dyed in the wool Villan…was brainwashed long before I can remember anything!
2) Alex McLeish? Your opinion please?
I was in fierce opposition about appointing him BEFORE he got the job. When he was appointed I thought ‘Big Eck and Randy have got some balls and they must both be very convinced that it will a good appointment. They could have both gone for MUCH easier options.’
And since he got the job, I’ve liked everything I’ve seen, heard and read. I reckon Big Eck is going to be a very good manager for us.
3) Best and worst moments of last season?
Worst for me was losing at home to Wolves. It really highlighted how far we had fallen.
Best for me was the final day. We beat Liverpool. Claimed 9th place (not great but way better than we deserved!). Finished as top midlands club. Saw the Blose relegated. And More importantly, the season was over! Time to change things up to make sure we’re not that bad again.
4) Your opinion of Randy Lerner?
I’m still very much behind Randy. Randy is the best owner around….I exclude the ridiculously rich owners that just spend their way to success, because I don’t know what would happen to those clubs if one of the owner lost interest or died in a plane crash….or, let’s say, got arrested in Hong Kong and had their assets frozen!
He has put a very solid base in place for our club and invested in the right way. He has us geared up to produce our own talent and supplemented that with good transfer funds for the managers. I agree 100% with his philosophy that we should have 15 senior pros backed up by the promising youngsters that are coming through. No point is having expensive bench warmers. They are a waste of money and will only stifle the youth players.
He has also shown real conviction and bottle by appointing Big Eck. My initial reaction was ‘He doesn’t care a crap about us fans. He has totally ignored us!’ then the dust settled and I thought ‘Randy has met McLeish, he has spoken to people who have worked under, over and alongside him. He is convinced he is the right man for the job.
5) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer?
Given and N’Zogbia are very good signings. I would also like to see us get Der Hammer to replace NRC. Sturridge IN and Heskey OUT would also have been nice.
6) (changed question!) Stewart Downing, now he has gone, were Villa right to get shot of him or should they have kept him against his wishes?
No way! Why should we keep a player that wants out. We need the squad to be ‘all in it together’ – was saw how we played with a squad full of rifts last season.
7) Favourite current player?
Darren Bent – obvious one, but it’s great to see a natural goalscorer in the Aston Villa no. 9 shirt
8) Favourite all time player/s?
Mortimer and Cowans cannot be split by me.
9) What do you expect us to do/finish this season?
Premier: 6th
FA Cup: win
Carling: win
Hard to say in the cups, but I expect us to go deep. In the first round we play we could draw Chelsea away in one and Man Utd away in the other and go out early in both.
10) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?
Q – Are you in the habit of asking yourself questions and answering them?
A – No, that would be mental.
11) Right, lets lower the tone… which celebrity would you most like to bang and which (male I would think) celeb would you most like to thump!?!
Thump Chris Moyles for being fat, ugly and completely unfunny. Bang…I dunno….Ophelia Lovibond because I saw her in a film recently and she was pretty.
