We’ll Bounce Back…..Again

Nigel Reo-Coker has insisted that the ‘fighting spirit’ in the team will see us bounce back from our 3 disappointing league results.

Hokey Cokey is adamant that the team must remain positive as we head into our matches against Liverpool and Man United.

Speaking on the official site, he said:

‘It was a disappointing result but we have to put that to the back of our minds. I really believe we have the character to bounce back.’

The thing is though, we’ve been hearing this after every single game lately. The only differences being the opposition and who says it from our camp.

Yet nothing changes, not in the team, not in the tactics – we just bumble on as we did before, and this time round, we aren’t getting lucky out on the pitch so the failures aren’t being hidden by wins.

‘We have two colossal fixtures coming up – against Liverpool and Manchester United – but if we can’t lift ourselves for those, we’re in trouble. They are a pair of fantastic games.

‘They are great tests to show how far we have come. They will separate the men from the boys. It’s a tremendous challenge but I really don’t see any reason why we can’t go to Anfield and Old Trafford and pick up results.

‘At the end of the day, this is the most open Premier League in years.

‘We are down about the defeat but we have to maintain a positive attitude – that is vital. People have written off our chances already but we are in a really good position in my opinion.’

The problem is Nige, we were in an even better position a few weeks ago when we put the blinkers on and carried on regardless.

If we could get two points from the next two games I’d be astounded to be honest, which is why Stoke, Man C and Spurs were so important to us. We needed to keep a buffer zone between us to allow for losing the next two games.

We still have players performing out of position. We still have no Plan B. We are still starting with players who are not on form – this is not going to give us the best chance of winning games again.

But who am I to argue, I’m obviously a know nothing fan who cheers the fact the manager made more than 1 substitution in a match, but somehow I’ve ended up giving O’Neill a reason to attack the fans and protect a player who is obviously above criticism.
