The Mirror have an ‘exclusive’ today saying that Martin O’Neill wants to bring West Ham striker Craig Bellamy to Villa Park.

Apparently Manchester City are also interested and as West Ham are having to look to sell players to balance the books due to the pressures on their Icelandic owner, it makes sense that their star players will be the target. Dean Ashton has already been linked to Villa, amongst others.

The Mirror report claims that Marlon Harewood would return to West Ham as part of the deal.

The 29-year-old former Liverpool striker apparently told the press recently he would listen to offers from other clubs due to the uncertainty surrounding Upton Park.

The Mirror report has no direct quotes or ‘sources’ but does say City, who had a £7m bid rejected in the summer, have made another move but Bellamy would prefer a move to Villa Park.

There is a thread in our forum as I asked what everyone thought of the idea of signing Bellamy on the 10 Dec. Mixed reactions but I think the fella proved what a great asset IF he stays fit he could be in the weekends 1-0 against the Hammers. He has speed, tenacity, hates losing, gives his all and yes, he might be a bit moody etc but he certainly knows where the goal is. Could be a great signing. What do you reckon?!
