Following on from all the speculation linking Aston Villa with having an interest in Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey, a short time after our Bristol City friendly came to an end, the club confirmed that we now have an agreement in place.

The 23-year-old Jamaican international operates on both wings but in the 2020/21 campaign, Leverkusen mostly played him as a forward right and he scored nine goals, and created eight assists, in his 30 Bundesliga matches.

The original speculation suggested we would pay a fee of around £30million for his services, but as is usual these days, that hasn’t been confirmed by Villa.

The deal now just needs him to complete his medical and then finalise personal terms and we’ll get the first photos of him in our new shirt. Given recent deals, we can fully expect this one to be a four or five year deal and I imagine within 48 hours this one will be official and everyone can say welcome to the club.

It seems fans are happy with this one and you can see why from those clips above, but given all the guff surrounding Jack Grealish and Manchester City, fans will be asking if he’s the replacement?

Is Bailey Jack's Replacement?

Sadly Yes, It's Inevitable
