Youngster Herd Crocked!

Chris Herd has suffered a medial ligament injury whilst on loan at Lincoln and is returning to Villa Park for treatment.

The injury is expected to keep him out of action for at least a month according to the Imps physio Michael Watt and it brings to an end what has been quite a successful loan spell…the Imps have nicknamed him the Australian Assassin presumably because he impressed and he’s an Aussie and not because he’s an Aussie and he went round killing the opposition.

Stranger things have happened though, football is a funny old game. (for libel purposes I must stress Chris Herd has at no point killed a member of the opposing team, nor a Mascot, nor even a fly.)

That said, since joining in late November he has picked up 9 bookings so he’s not soft, but that’s offset with 4 goals and 2 assists.

So as said, it was an impressive loan spell for the lad who was becoming well known in our reserve squad, and obviously did himself no harm whatsoever in our successful Peace Cup campaign.

If I find any quotes I’ll add them here, but considering I nicked this and shamelessly reworded it from Vital Lincoln I’ll include one of Neil Gentleman Hobbs’ in describing how sadly they will miss him:

‘But most of all he will be remembered for his passionate dribbling and a threaded through ball that could unlock Mother Theresa`s chastity belt.’

The mind boggles!
