A few reports are doing the rounds putting two and two together and coming up with Villa.

I guess we’ll be linked with every decent player and every available player between now and the transfer window in January.

The latest one is a return to the Sheffield United link which has done the rounds several times over the last year or so.

Sheffield United’s chairman Kevin McCabe has re-stated that it would take a massive bid to tempt the Blades to sell Phil Jagielka.

24-year-old player, who covers both defence and midfield, lines up against Villa on Monday night but has been linked to us amongst others.

McCabe said of the player who still has 2 1/2 years left on his current contract: ‘It would have to be a very high price. Phil is one of our key players, we recognise that, and Sheffield United is not a selling club per se. But if the price was high enough, so high, we would have to think about it – but I think my eyes would have to water first.’

So a simple plan will be to send in the General to poke McCabe in the eyes, get his eyes watering then fax through the offer?

We’ve a thread in the forum on player links, at least this time around we know there is a chance of signing someone now what was his name has left as chairman!
