Transfer deadline day, looks like a good deal of work still being done by Keith Wyness et al.

I think this would be ideal if it happened.

Several reports, including The Mirror say that Aston Villa are set to offload midfielder Ashley Westwood for between £5-6million (depending on which report you read).

A tweet from John Percy:

Burnley, who also wanted him in the summer according to rumours at the time, are back in for the much maligned former Crewe Alexendra player. Westwood has made 23 appearances this season and it`s a struggle to remember one where he made any real impact. I think this could be a great move because a lot of fans are pretty personal about the guy, be good for him to have a fresh start elsewhere. I`m told he`s a top fella, always willing to do the charity and club appearance stuff, just it`s never worked out here for him and he`s always been seen as a pretty weak link in our midfield.

The same report in The Mirror says Swansea left-back Neil Taylor is set to join us in part-exchange for striker Jordan Ayew. This would be plus cash one assumes.

Oh and again in The Mirror, they say that Villa will use the Westwood money to increase their offer for Middlesbrough’s Jordan Rhodes ‘to enable him to go 4-4-2.` Hmmm, maybe. Although I know he wasn`t willing to pay over the odds for players this transfer window and felt the offer they had put in for Rhodes was a reasonable one.

Within our transfer thread some are saying Sky have Villa as favourites now to sign Brentford striker Scott Hogan. Sirdennis said: West Ham have pulled out and we are favourites to sign Hogan ,it’s even got it’s own yellow banner on SSN. Read more: Click Here

The Daily Star say a host of clubs including Aston Villa are interested in buying 28-year-old South Korea international winger Lee Chung-yong’s from Crystal Palace.
