Summer signing Wesley has certainly had a mixed start to life at Aston Villa, but as we head towards the return of Premier League football after the October lull and look for another three points off Brighton and Hove Albion, the 22-year-old has managed four goals and an assist in eight games – despite what I think all fans would agree, have been largely poor performances from him.
That’s understandable really as he continues to adjust to life at the club and the English game, and many would argue we are seeing slow but steady improvement from him as he finds his feet – so nobody should be writing him off yet.
Wesley’s spirits certainly seem high though, especially after his brace against Norwich City and over the October break, as most fans I think will be aware, he took himself down to London for a bit of sightseeing and couldn’t resist making the most of the opportunity Click Here.
His little visit to Buckingham Palace to drop off some tickets for Prince William and family, actually came up in head coach Dean Smith’s press conference, and his response, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail, probably emphasises the spirit in the dressing room at the moment.
“I did see his Instagram post and did explain that I found it funny but a little bit cheesy. It was quite difficult to describe what cheesy meant in Portuguese! Listen, we all saw the pictures of Prince William with Prince George at the game and it was great to see a future King of England celebrating with his wife and son at the game.”
I can’t be the only one who wants to see DS trying to explain what cheesy means, can I?
