The only transfer talk I can see today is surrounding Christian Benteke again.
The Daily Star have added another team to those supposedly interested and our (OUR) strikers agent has confirmed the interest.
The team? Serie A club Fiorentina as they look to replace Stevan Jovetic.
Talks with Villa start next week as Benteke returns from international duty and the manager/CEO return from holidays.
The report states what we already know, that Villa are willing to more than double his wages to keep him.
The despiseable (is that even a word?) agent, Eris Kismet says on the Fiorentina link: “They are one of many clubs showing an interest but we are waiting to hold more talks with Villa when Christian finishes playing with the national team and returns from a holiday.”
Just all looks like an agent thinking he has the Club over a barrel to me.
Atletico Madrid, Arsenal, Spurs, Borussia Dortmund have also been linked.
He does appear to be one of the most wanted strikers in Europe, which is no shock after his first season in the Premiership producing 19 goals, however it is proabably just as much to do with the fact his agent is constantly talking in the press trying to engineer a move.
I hope the Club do get on with talks now, if he is wanting out, ship him out, but only if it is abroad. I hope he sees sense, another good season for us, a good world cup and then, the world would be his oyster. He hasn`t made it yet, he`s had one good season. He needs to replicate that before behaving like a superstar surely?
One way or the other, the quicker this saga is over, the better for all of us. Leaves a bitter taste doesn`t it? Lambert is trying to build something, the Club took the risk at a high fee to bring the player in and he`s certainly been taken to the hearts of the fans. Then you get this guff!
If he thinks he`s better and bigger then Villa, then ……
