Wednesday evening’s EFL Cup clash between Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers – well, it wasn’t much of a clash of any sort really was it – but we took the 2-1 win, saw some small positives, players got more minutes under their belt and others were rested for what will be a difficult game against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side this coming Saturday.
Two players who certainly took his chance to impress was summer arrival Ezri Konsa and the 21-year-old put in a pretty assured performance alongside Kortney Hause as they largely dealt with the little threat Patrick Cutrone gave them.
Home debut and through to the quarters! Great night 👊🏽 #UTV pic.twitter.com/EZP2Va7Jgy

There are high hopes for Konsa’s development and his home debut only served to boost those expectations and he certainly received the praise as he took to social media following the game to comment on our progression through to the next round. Hause also featured in the comments given his own performance.
Different class tonight Ezri, soon be starting in the PL without doubt UTV

Not quite breathing down the necks of Tyrone Mings and Bjorn Engels just yet, but neither let themselves down.
