Earlier in the week Brentford confirmed their released list for the 2018/19 campaign and having been heavily linked with Aston Villa following head coach Dean Smith’s arrival, Yoann Barbet is again being tentatively linked with a potential free agent move to us – we are also reported on the verge of completing a permanent move for Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee Kortney Hause.
Whatever happens with the Barbet links, Smith knows him well and the rumour mill has us in for him along with the likes of Norwich City, Leeds United and Wolves themselves and that is what the Birmingham Mail report focuses on, but as they lean on defensive options for Wolves, there is a little throwaway line about Hause being on the verge of signing a permanent deal with us.
This, of course, wouldn’t be a massive surprise given the improvement we’ve seen from the 23-year-old once he found his feet, fitness and sharpness and fans have certainly been impressed with his efforts over the eleven Championship games he played.
I do however doubt that we’ll be overly working on our buy clauses at this stage as to some degree, the division we are in next year will have a bearing.
Hause is certainly one we should be planning to option though.
