Patrik Berger has been tapped by an old friend and could be set for a return to Slavia.

Speaking to Hat-trick, Berger revealed that Vladimir Smicer has been convincing him privately to make the move back and even though the SSN website states that Berger has struggled to get into the first team, they comically miss that’s because he’s been pretty much permanently injured since signing his year extension deal.

‘Officially I have not discussed it with anyone but Smica has been persuading me to return and I am already affected by it. I want to return home.

‘I am allured to the idea of playing alongside Smica at the new Slavia stadium and I know the coach (Karel) Jarolim, I even played with him in a team.

‘But mainly because of my family I would like to settle down finally so that our children did not have to travel about the world.’

Slavia general director Petr Dolezal commented:

‘We have discussed it with Patrik’s agent Pavel Paska but we rather leave it to Vlada Smicer.’

Bye bye then Berger.
