Martin O’Neill has said Olof Mellberg should be fit and raring to go in time for our match against Arsenal.
Speaking on the official site, O’Neill revealed that Physio Alan Smith stayed with him whilst the team travelled to Reading in the hope they could work past his twisted ankle in time, but it wasn’t to be.
‘He turned his ankle over in training. Alan Smith (physio) stayed back to treat him at 8am yesterday morning again just to see if there was a chance of him getting back.
‘But we don’t think it’s unbelievably serious in the sense that it won’t keep him out for weeks on end. I think he’ll be OK in three or four days.’
It would be nice for Mellberg to make it back and score another goal against Arsenal wouldn’t it. Be an appropriate send off for him before he leaves for sunnier climes in the summer.
