“Brilliant” “Silenced So Many” – Villa Star Proves International Doubters Wrong With Top Performance

|

Sunday afternoon saw Gareth Southgate’s England side get their 2020 European Championship campaign underway as we welcomed Croatia to Wembley.

Aston Villa fans naturally had an interest in the game, and the main question was, would Tyrone Mings or Jack Grealish see the pitch?

We even had Lovre Kalinic on Croatia’s bench.

Somewhat predictably, Jack didn’t, but Mings put in an improved and very assured performance in the backline to more than silence some of his recent critics and doubters.

It was far from an entertaining encounter though, and a 1-0 victory courtesy of a Raheem Sterling second half effort was a poor result given how little Croatia actually threatened. But a win is a win and England pick up their first opening day victory in the competition and we now go into a much tougher clash with Scotland with three points and some good confidence under our belts.

After all the recent criticism, Mings definitely takes the praise after that performance.
