18 year old Keinan Davis has spoken of his delight at making his senior Aston Villa debut as a late substitute in last weekend’s game against Tottenham Hotspur.

The highly rated youngster came on as a 77th minute substitute for Mile Jedinak in the FA Cup third round loss to our White Hart Lane hosts and whilst he was disappointed to debut in a loss, he was obviously pleased to got on the pitch regardless as it topped a nice journey in his short career so far.

Released by Stevenage Town as a fresh faced 15 year old, joined Biggleswade Town before being snapped up by our Under 18 set up after a one week trial. Under 18 and Under 21/23 football since has also seen him on the bench for games against Norwich and Liverpool and he’s topped that now by getting minutes under his belt.

Speaking to the Official Site to reflect on his experience on Sunday, the youngster explained that hopefully it was a sign of things to come for me as he continues to develop further.

‘Obviously we were frustrated with the loss as a team but, on a personal level, it was a great, great moment. I was warming up and then the gaffer called me over and said ‘you`re coming on`. I couldn`t really take it all in at the time. It was so quick and instant and I had to be ready for action. It was fantastic for me to come on for this great club. I had travelled with the squad the previous weekend against Cardiff and didn`t make the bench but this past weekend I did make it into the final 18 – and came on.’

Whilst he didn’t obviously have a massive impact on the game, it would’ve been unfair to expect him to, fans were quick to praise his efforts as he adjusted to top flight football against a good Spurs side already a goal to the good at the point of his introduction and he appreciated the support he was given and the responses post game on social media.

‘I am so thankful to the fans too for their support. I have received messages since that moment and they meant a lot to me. It really makes me feel like I am a part of the whole Aston Villa family. It was an extra boost for me.’
