Matt Law at The Mirror seems to think that Paul Lambert wants two Canaries!

The report links us to both Grant Holt and also defender Daniel Ayala.

He also says Leeds Robert Snodgrass and Blackpool striker Matt Phillips are on the list.

As have a few other reports, he suggests the transfer pot is around £20million and Lambert has already given our CEO Paul Faulkner a list of players he wants. It appears he wants 4-5 and a similar amount could well be on the way out. (Lambert Looking For 5 Players With £20m Funds?)

Law says Villa will bid a £5million for Grant Holt, 31.

I did ruminate the other day as to whether Lambert had signalled a no to Holt? Maybe not Holt:

He said at the press conference: ‘Grant Holt was absolutely brilliant for me. In the three years I was there he was a huge part of what happened. But things move on. I need to know what`s happening at Aston Villa before I do anything. The chairman and Paul Faulkner know that and then we`ll try to bring players in.”

£5million for a 31 year old? Up to Lambo really but……….!

Certainly think we`ll see a new central defense next season and that we need to. He Lambert bought 21-year-old Spanish defender Ayala from Liverpool last year. Looks like his time last season was spoilt by injury and he only played seven times.

And on Snodgrass? According to the report Lambert tried and failed twice to take him to Norwich and now the Leeds winger has just one year left on his contract. 24-years of age so fits in with us wanting to build for the future maybe and could cost far less now that his contract is running out….

And then finally, 21-year-old Phillips, who scored 18 goals for Blackpool last season according to the report (but then, they say he is pictured and he isn`t!) and on this BBC page: www.bbc.co.uk/sport where he refuses to be drawn into the transfer links. However, his wiki and his profile page don`t agree on that goal tally! worldfootball.net have him down as having scored 7 goals, 1 from the penalty spot.

The Blackpool profile page (Click Here) says “The England U-20 international signed from League Two outfit Wycombe Wanderers for £700, 000 on the final day of the 2010 summer transfer window. Blessed with lightening pace and a bag of tricks the youngster can play in a variety of attacking roles and has slotted well into the Seasiders’ 4-3-3 formation.”
