As Aston Villa fans everywhere will know, our Good Friday Championship fixture against Bolton Wanderers at the University of Bolton Stadium lived up to expectations.

With head coach Dean Smith’s side being on a fantastic run of eight successive victories for the first time since April 1975 (and winning despite the fact we were missing new skipper Jack Grealish and skipper stand in Tyrone Mings), Bolton was an opportunity to make it nine.

Second half goals from Jack and Tammy Abraham made it a justified and momentous day as we levelled our record of nine going back 109 years to 1910.

Easter Monday’s action against Millwall back at Villa Park is the chance to set a new record full stop.

That wasn’t the only thing fans should’ve been celebrating and looking forward to this weekend either.

On loan Chelsea’s Abraham has already beaten Peter Withe’s league tally, and the 21-year-old now has 25 to his name after Friday’s action – that in itself is a club equalling record going back to 1976/77 with Andy Gray – hattip to Vital Villa forum member Tierney.
