With Aston Villa desperately needing to shore up defence during the January transfer window, Bournemouth centre-half Tyrone Mings certainly appeared to fit the bill as head coach Dean Smith drafted him in on a loan spell for the remainder of the 2018/19 Championship campaign.
The 25-year-old quickly hit the ground running with us despite a more recent lack of game time at Dean Court, and he now boasts six appearances to his name with a return of one goal.

After the initial controversy, Mings has certainly gone from strength to strength in the heart of defence and there are few who aren’t seriously impressed with his efforts for us.
Following the 4-0 demolition of Derby County last week, Mings took to social media to post a short highlights package of his favourite moments since arriving at Villa Park, and with the strap:
“Just getting started”
Plenty have wondered if that’s an indication to his future given the deal isn’t a loan to buy, we simply have the option of ‘matching’ any offer come the summer.
Love you to sign for us next season!! You are a strong, positive, fantastic player. Just what we need #utv

Superb! Positional sense, composure, reader. But best of all a leader. Vocal. Even I hear him. Captain for definite. He’s very much a Laursen without the knees and better distribution. Sign Mr Mings. ✍???? play for folklore.

Already endeared yourself to the Villa faithful through hard work motivation and leadership. An absolute Villa legend in the making. Immense player. Thank you.
