Aston Villa have had a steady start to the 2020/21 campaign with three victories under our belt as we go into Monday evening’s clash with Fulham at Craven Cottage. EFL Cup victories over Burton Albion and Bristol City have sandwiched our first Premier League win of the year against Sheffield United, so confidence should be high – as are our hopes for four on the spin.

The biggest concern for fans was the apparent hamstring issue that seemed to hit young centre half Ezri Konsa during Monday’s game at Villa Park. The 22-year-old saw the 90 minutes out and helped us to the win with his goal, but he was understandably missing on Thursday night as head coach Dean Smith made changes.

Speaking to the Official Site to discuss our next clash, Smith confirmed that Konsa remained in his plans for this one and that there were no lasting issues.

“Ezri Konsa, everyone told me he had a bit of a hamstring strain at half-time (on Monday), it wasn’t, it was a strain in his glutes. But he was fine and he’s back training today (Saturday). Apart from that, everybody is good.”

Smith also confirmed that we continue to have Bjorn Engels, Tom Heaton and Wesley out on the sidelines, but that’s no great surprise at this point.
