Scott Hogan has been speaking about his confidence in the goals flowing for him in 2017/18 and James Chester has been talking about our capture of John Terry.

Speaking to the Official Site Hogan explained that he had his own target for a number of goals this season and whilst he wouldn’t name the exact number, it was upwards of 20.

Fully fit and over the issues that interrupted his first season at B6, Hogan still ended the last campaign with 15 goals all in, and he knows if he can stay injury free then 20+ has to be his target as we look for promotion.

‘I am confident I will score plenty of goals. All I can say is that there will be a lot more goals from me this time. I have a target in my head that I am confident I will hit.’

Hogan went on to say.

‘The end of last season wasn`t what I wanted but, to be fair, I had 14 goals by Christmas. I actually wanted 25 goals last season and I probably would have done but sometimes circumstances dictate you don`t. I think you should be looking at the 20 goal mark every season. I am looking to go 20+ hopefully.’

As for Chester, he was talking about the arrival of ‘legend’ John Terry and he was relishing the prospect of playing alongside the 36 year old and learning from him.

‘When the rumours were flying around and people were asking me, my response was ‘I will believe it when I see it.’ I think it`s testament to the manager, the owner as well as the size and history of the club that JT has dropped down a division to come here. With him being a centre-half and when you look at what he`s achieved, I find myself fortunate to be able to send time with him on and off the pitch.’

Chester went on to add.

‘He’s right up there – he’s a legend of the Premier League era. He’s won everything possible at club level. He’s captained a huge club for so many years and the national team as well. He’s up there as one of the very best over the last 10, 15, 20 years.’

With Terry well in the mix now with pre season training, Chester went on to say that you could already see JT setting the example with his efforts on the training pitch.

‘You can see him communication on the pitch – he`s very vocal. He’s demanding high standards already. I don`t think that’s a surprise with the trophies he`s won and the success he’s had. That`s a given at those levels. Hopefully he can help us achieve what we all want to do and that`s get the club back to the Premier League.’
