Milner £28M transfer ‘almost complete’ is rubbish

A certain newspaper this morning has printed an article stating that Manchester City are close to completing a deal for James Milner with a transfer fee of £28M.

Although this may sound believable they have actually ruined the credibility of this article by taking it one step too far. They claim Milner (who is in South Africa) has agreed terms on a 5 year deal earning £80,000 a week.

Now some people are stupid, but there is no way anyone can believe this. Villa and England have stressed that no player should speak or take action about their club future during the world cup, but apparently Milner has secretly agreed to join Man City and without Cappello noticing has flown back to Manchester to discuss terms on a contract?

First of all, the clubs need to agree a fee before such discussions between a club and transfer target can take place.

Secondly, if Milner was to join Man City I think he would demand more than £80,000 a week (with the silly money that joke of a club is throwing around lately).

And thirdly how has all these secret discussions taken place without Aston Villa or the England camp knowing anything at all but the press know every detail?

Hmmm. Also the fee of £28M is below our apparent £30M price tag, and why oh why would Villa sell one of the stars of the forthcoming World Cup before he can show off his talents?

I still firmly believe that Aston Villa and James Milner will come to terms on a new long term contract along with other star players like Ashley Young, Gabby Agbonlahor, John Carew and Richard Dunne.
