Golden opportunity squandered but ambition still intact.. At half-time it looked like Villa were well on their way to narrowing the gap between themselves and a play-off place to a mere seven points. The miracle looked very much at hand and things were looking as rosy as the fans’ faces. Gabby had nearly scored and Adomah had scored twice. The referee had been generous too. It was all going great. Then on the hour Preston ran through Villa like a dose of salts, there was a bit of Keystone Cops defending, and Simon Grayson’s team were back in the game. A carbon-copy of Spurs’ first goal in the FA Cup gave Preston a share of the points. No pressure on the ball and the same marking in the box. And I`d say this pretty much illustrations why Aston Villa SHOULD keep Jack Grealish. Reports last week suggested a possible exit for Grealish to Middlesbrough. His brother has actually said that`s not happening on facebook and to be fair, if you were looking to move on, I wouldn`t have thought Middlebrough would be number one on your list would it? But young Jack has talked to Gregg Evans of the Birmingham Mail saying he is all too aware that he has work to do on his game and that he`s not the finished product yet. The self awareness makes good reading as some are already saying in Grealish forum thread. It was reported over the weekend that Aston Villa had secured a deal to bring in Bury youngster Jacob Bedeau ahead of the January transfer deadline on Tuesday. Looks like Steve Bruce is quite happy with the transfer window so far. He also suggests it isn`t quite over yet and that a player they are close to signing is one that the press haven`t picked up on. I like this. If a young player isn`t going to be used, instead of just writing them off and selling, send them out on loan to prove themselves!
